So The IPHONE finally comes to the UK

So The IPHONE finally comes to the UK well the apple fanboys will love it of course - :)

and the millions of others will be happy today that google will rock their new phones - with changeable batteries - 3G - media players email instant messaging and most likely tariffs that will be highly subsidised by google sponsored links.

Established players like HTC, LG, and Samsung have signed up from day one-- and theoretically, anyone else that wants to have a go at it since the Google Android platform and its code base is wide open.

The Google GPhone is not a phone then - its hundreds of phones in a vast range of form factors - some will be touch phones - stylus phones smart phones - Ultra Mobile PC - or even the phone you already have if its a fairly recent model phone that support java.

The carriers "Walled Gardens" will finally be wiped away - users want their portable devices "always on" - always connected and always know where they are.
I suspect if you buy into the iphone you will very quickly realise you bought the phone equivalent of the Betamax

Fuckin Lovely Adverts tho :)

Big Bang Theory - is wrong

Im pretty sure there's actually several other Big Bangs out there and their universes are rushing this way - I never quite understood why there could only ever be the one unique event - if ANYTHING can happen once - why not twice or many times?. .....

And since we cant quite see the so called end of our universe its unlikely we will be able to send observers to take a look.

Wonder how we would feel if we finally saw another one rushing this way ;)

Why I dont Like AIDS Jokes much

Seen in Forun on www.fitlads.net Thread: General :thread:570376

A joke posted as : Is HIV a really terrible thing or a very good diet?

Im sick of the Atkins.

The comment was later attached as a reference to this VIDEO

Lisa Lampanelli is fuckin Funny
- and if you haven't seen it you really should - I would certainly go see her when she appears in UK

I want to say also that I have huge respect for iconical indeed since I have been on Fitlads I look "out for "Karens" posts and I really do laugh out loud.

Im sorry many of the posts here have been so personal as I don't believe iconical makes light of AIDS or HIV for a second.

I don't believe Fitlads is populated by all cunty folks - and I would happily put many of the regulars on my guest list and buy them a Coke or a nice cup of tea at HEAVEN.

One thing we all learned tonight that feeling run high - My Own included - and I do regret being so harsh .
However I was astonished too by some of the more extreme things that have been said - being accused of lieing about having lost 50 friends. Dear god I wish that had been a lie, in fact its a throw away line the real number was way higher.
I used to keep the names of friends and family in their front of my bible and at one particular funeral of Chris "Boatwoman" from Islington - yep! he lived on a houseboat in central London - An oasis - Kris was an Angel of Islington. He was the 50th name and I swore then I had to stop counting indeed I had to stop living in London for a while and retreat to some solitude in Wales - for a rest.

When I ran away to London at 16 it was a London few if any of the people on this site would recognise - I left school with 1 O level - But in the following 30 years I rose to the top of several industrys in areas that interested me - Cinemas Rising to be Youngest ever Theatre Manager and was involved at New Victoria Theatre Live Venue - Odeom Marble Arch Odeon Leicester Sq Premmiers - On nightrs off I would be at The London Palladium and after drink woth so many of the starts of their day it reads like Whos Who - Many household names look upon me as a good trusted mate.
I created Laser Display systems for Blackpool - Heaven - Saturday Night Live - Canary Wharf Tower - Oxfords St - The Empire Leicester Sq and I even has a note from Steven Speilberg saying Great Show - for a few of his premiers - The First ever AIDS Benifit featuring George Michael's first solo at Wembly some of you might still have the DVD will see all the backdrops using 3D Laser Graphics -
When Terry Higgins died I sat with Rupert Whittaker his boyfriend and promised myself I would move Heaven and Earth to do everything in my power to stop people getting AIDS.
I worked Day and Night running from meeting to meeting - TV interview to press briefing and at night answering telephone calls from worried guys that thought in those days that you could be dead within months - some were.
It took a while to Set The Terrence Higgins Trust in motion - with it to be able to afford to pay any staff - for all my time I even paid all my own expenses - it was not how things are today. Remember also in those days there was so much hostility - as crazy as it may seem today - we were told by almost everyone we would never get the THT through the Charity commissioners and we were also getting a lot of hostility from the gay community, businesses and some of its its press. Largely I think they just wanted the threat of AIDS would not roll back the tide of progress we were making in so many areas.
HEAVEN had just opened at this time and love it or hate it - it created what we all know of as a Nightclub experience. Ian Levine was the first and arguably one of the best DJs that during his 15 year tenure set the standard by which everyone else will be judged.

My point for raising all this background was just to illustrate the extent of my social circle only to tell you if you count casual acquaintances the real number of people that have been taken by AIDS that were close friends or Lovers probably runs into the hundreds - as I have said I refuse to count - but as long as I live I will never forget one of them.

So as you can see - All this might be a FAKE - Thats the way things are on the Internet .

Oh yer I am a fake in one sense - David Is not my real Name - but my real friends know who I am -
~~~ Waves ~~~
Anyone that thinks this is " Just the Internet" Your Absolutely Right! - But all that really means its a network of PEOPLE - every single one of them have feelings - and can be hurt.
Well fuck me - I have had enough fucking hurt already - You Can Stop NOW!!!!
Love
Peace
My Brother is Straight!
My BROTHER has just gathered the family together and announced that he is "Straight"
My mom cried she said it must of taken so much courage.my dad looked a bit dissapointed but said he didnt mind at the end of the day he is his son and he loves him.
My sister was in bits she feels decieved especially after all the fashion advice and makeup tips he has given.
My Gran told him to be careful and not go getting AIDS.
I knew he was straight even when he was younger he liked football and used to play with lego.
we just want him to be happy and will try and learn to live with the way he is - we all decided to stand by him and help him to be himself.
Do we take Gay Rights for granted?
Its perfectly ok to take them for granted -=- but we should never forget they came at a price
Ageism is a classic example of what happens when wee do
The older guys that get so much stick on sites like Fitlads Gaydar were the guys that lead the way - made it passable to be out - they largely helped shape the commercial gay scene that simply did not exist 30 years ago
You no longer get arrested for sleeping with guys - all these rights came at terrific cost -
25 years ago when hiv-aids came along - The gay community - or some anyway were first there setting up help lines support and education. And are still operating today and highly respected organisations.
Surely all these things are the reason we can attend PRIDE and have something to be proud about.
The next big challenge will be what the older gay guys do in old age - largely its uncharted territory but I for one don't want to be shunted into some nasty care home
The Gay community should be thinking how we want to be housed - looked after if we become frail
How would you like to be cared for - Surely an alternative old age will be possible - in major centres of London Brighton Manchester etc
Or we can simply say fuck the old codgers - im O.K. - im not going to get old -
YER RIGHT!
BAREBACKING in GAY PORN
Petitions the British Film Censor to OUTLAW Unsafe sex (BAREBACKING) being sold in our shops and online
It would save thousands of lives - and stop people lusting after it -
If people grow up and Only being exposed to Safer Sex Porn - it just MIGHT reinforce the idea that the only casual sex out there is safer sex.
Snuff Movie's are outlawed - Why Not Suicide Movie's Too ?
When Noah sobered up
When Noah sobered up. he twatted the first guy that ridiculed his faith and that of others -
Why do people get so worked up about people of faith?
For those that dont have any faith its a bit silly questioning anyone that does - your living on an entirely different plain - and by your own admission does not have something that the man of faith does - and since you cannot or will not experience that thing called faith - to question its validity or worth, is a bit like screaming flat earth to someone that intuitively knows you cannot fall off the horizon.
You are never going to agree - but to attack someone for their faith is just a plain cunty thing to do.
Labourt or Conservative
I find it VERY VERY Frightening that guys here - whom I thought had some level of political intelligence - and sense of world history could be so right wing,
To utter that you could even consider putting the conservatives into power again so soon after the disaster that was the Thacher/Major governments are so fresh in our collective memory sounds like an appeasement not seen since the German people rolled over and said fuck me to Hitler.
Of course the Tory fucker appeal to self interest - all you carbon suckin over stretched credit card junkies would rather see crumbling schools and hospitals if it means you got an extra £5 for your drug habit.
So If you want to undo all the good that Labour had worked for and don't forget it was .people like is that demanded equal rights, devolution better health care better schools equality and a world without strikes riots and bigots go ahead lets tear apart all we have achieved.
But don't insult my intelligences for one moment by saying Labour has done a BAD job - or that the Conservatives can do a better job because your living in cloud cookoo land.
I think LABOUR will win if an election is called now or later the people know which side their bread is butted, so you really should start to support the party of real social democracy and If you don't like them - then seek to change them - but please I beg you lets not make a terrible mistake here and let those fucking tory cunts back in.
Passwords - The BASICS
You should use a different password on every site you have subscribed to so if one is discovered all your others are safe
COMBINATION passwords are useful in that you have a "keyword" and "Location" component - so If your password is GAYBOY add the location to it somewhere
Example
MSNgayboy
hotmailgayboy
fitladsgayboy
Now you have a UNIQUE password for EVERY site but only need to remember one password.
Passwords with a combination of letters and numbers are inherently safer to crack by brute force.
What is Death?
I saw a curious post on a forum recently by a young lad and in all innocence he askd perhaps the ultimate question - often reversed to ask "What is life all about?" - is there any purpose?
Bless he was expecting the answer pop up like an instant message from God.
lots of good answers popped up - some macabre many funny and droll.
Somewhat surprising for a forum made up of young guys so many answers depended on a profound faith.
Every Night we die a little - one day we stop waking up - and suddenly all our dreams become one.
Do you know what's kept me HIV free for the past 25 years?
Its Very simple - When Terry Higgins died i sat back from the scene for a while to think through the implications of the "Gay Plague" as it was known in the US at that time had finally arrived in the UK - Here was one of the fittest guys I knew go down hill so fast and die a quite a horrific and unexpected death in a blink of an eye. My immediate reaction was to become celibate for 2 years until we knew more about what was causing AIDS.
In the interim its clear hiv is a major factor and that, with a whole range of other opportunistic diseases transmitted sexually makes any sex - but particularly gay sex a high risk business.
So the secret if there ever was one is this, Treat EVERYONE as though they have HIV.
And they are out to kill you if they can.
Now Im really happy to cuddle up to a warm loving guy - have horny massage sessions till the cums hitting the ceiling - Then cuddle up for the night in the spoons position secure in the knowledge that neither of us have harmed each other.
HIV Ignorance on a Dating site in one hour - A Debate on HIV
" i wudnt hav sex with him" ... << You Probably Already Have ! If You used condoms - then No sweat!
"personally i wouldnt, whether it was safe or not, too much risk" < Right so you only go with guys who are NEG - Dont know - or Lie !
" i value my life and the people close to me in it to run such risks" The Only truly SAFE SEX is Phone Sex - Unless your using a Nokia - then check the battery serial no for fire risks.
"remember that there are people who dont get tested because they dont want to know their status" - George Michael recently stated hes not been tested out of fear -
What your doing is ruining any chance of a long life if indeed you are HIV - Your immune system is being eroded - Many of the drug therapy's work best in the very early stages of infection.
Leave it until one of the opportunistic diseases show up? If you don't know your status - You cannot begin to help yourself!
"my ex so called boyfriend given it me knowingly" NOT TRUE - You put yourself at risk - You had unprotected sex with a guy - All Men Lie - All men sleep around - Most men dont know their status - - When you met and decided to go unprotected - BAREBACKING - Did you both get tested together - Probably NOT - Take responsibility for your own health - TRUST NO ONE
"some individuals might not want to take the risk of having sexual contact with them"
Who Might THEM Be - The guy you slept with Last Night - Tonight or Tomorrow" - Be sure to look for HIV tattooed on his forehead if I were you!
There ain't never been a proven case of getting HIV through oral to my understanding - The Theoretical risk is there - and as its impossible to prove any specific single case of transmission - Thre have been concerns of dentists passing hiv - we know for example medical sharps are a real danger - and dont forget many guys mouths bleed after brushing -
** if this has NEVER happened to you you may indeed not have to worry about this method of transmission -
We NEED a fuckin education programme cause this generation is simply not getting the message!
George Michael
GEORGE MICHAEL
I saw his first ever Live solo performance at the first ever AIDS Benefit in the UK and his voice singing A cappella in the Wembly Arena was an amazing experience especially as he had kept his first ever solo performance for a cause that in those days needed every single second of airplay in the media. Seeing him at the NEC on his recent 25 tour was one of the hi-lights of my concert going life and I have seen the best of them. And Im often asked what's my favourite record and hell I have hundreds I think are my favourite records - but if I was stranded on a desert Island with MP3 Player - Ill be sure to have Listen Without Prejudice on it
Save My Auntie Beeb
In the world of global media OUR good ole auntie beeb is up there excelling in public broadcasting in every single area of broadcasting.
It has the largest TV back catalogue in the world and reaches a global audience, It produces ground breaking programmes and employs talent that Hollywood can only dream about. If you think of the top 50 TV programmes of all time you can guarantee most of us would wind up with most being from the BBC. Radio - BBC have always understood radio - and they still produce the largest audiences across every age group and cultural division.
NO ADVERTS
ITS OUR AUNTIE
Consider how your 500 channels of commercial TV will look without AUNTIE serving up Dot and Pat - Your TV Licence Keeps AUNTIE alive - training the next generation - presenting amazing new talent - allowing our writers actors and the thousands of support workers it takes to bring it to our screens - ipods radios - computers and phones.
All that for just over a hundred quid a year - FUCKIN BARGAIN !!!!!!!
Big Brother 2007
I have watched every night - I have hardly understood a word the twins have said - I would be hard pressed to think of more than 2 mins of their BEST BITS and that's only thanks to the Megaphone I could understand anything she said. Barbie had more go in her than either of these two.
Brian (bless him) annoyed the hell out of me in the first few days - I thought he was so poorly educated I knew I would be pulling my hair out. But no - Brian is a gem - a treasure, hes genuine funny sharp street wise trusting and all found good guy. One I would be proud to be able to call a friend.
So after the dullest big brother we have ever had served up to us - endamol should be ashamed of themselves. Its no small wonder channel 4 have pulled celebrity big brother. I seriously have my doubt BigBrother can survive - its time to call in a brand new production company, new locations, Im sure VallyWood could build an amazing future BigBrother style reality set by next summer. It could be bigger, better, longer with more people more community like. And it could make riveting viewing again.
Gay marriage was never intended for everyone
Gay marriage was never intended for everyone - and certainly NOT the immature shagg and forget generation.
Even guys that form long term relationships (longer than a week to 5 years) should NOT marry, - Or we are going to see the splattering of sour bitches ripping each other apart in the tabloids in such a savage manner it will make a bad bitch fight in Dynasty seem like an episode of Happy Families.
I simply cant wait for one of the big "celebrity gay marriages" to fail and watch our tabloids swarm - The smell of flies will be all over it.
BUT I strongly support very long term devoted couples in exercising their new rights in the new (LABOUR) law that now grants equality with the heterosexual marriage rights.
In the last 25 years I have seen many cases where one man in a partnership has died and the guy that was his devoted partner has his rights pushed aside as the "legal next of kin" move in and take over.
From issues such as his funeral to the deeds of the house, the bank accounts, personal items that you may have bought together or each other - are all swept away - and there was nothing you could have done about it.
As a member of the gay community I applaud everyone that have proved the cynics wrong and do have a long stable, fruitful relationships into old age.
It is our generation that remember the days before we joined the Gay Liberation Front. - We supported every struggle even if we did not fully understand it - and we trusted our peers.
This trust in ourselves has generated a powerful pink pound., AIDS organisations that are the envy of the world, Our media, arts, films, television, fashion and probably the organisation you work in often has a powerful gay group within it.
GAY PRIDE has ceased being a protest march and these days it has become a celebration of that thing that is the Gay Community coming together. Who would have thought 25 years ago we would see OUT Gay Policemen marching in full uniform at Brighton Pride - MEGABrilliant!
Much has been achieved but we face huge challenges, the biggest threat is from the young guys who, having entered maturity and discover the gay scene think that all the battles are won that there are no dragons;
AIDS being taken care of,
Gay Rights - sorted - hell I can even marry that barman I fancy.
Money Sex Drugs Booze More Drugs Party Party Spend today's mantra
Racism - Yer lets go on the forums and wind up the old guys.
Ageism - That gay guys 50 he should not even be here. He needs to drop dead. (fitlads)
This is also a generation that's not seen the future. They have not see all their friends waste away to die in poverty of painful cancers or hear them drown in pneumonia and watch their mothers weeping at the graveside - time after time after time.
A quick scan of these forums you will see hourly guys wanting to bareback. WRAP IT UP!
Fuckin makes me mad.
Live Earth 7 Point Pledge
* Demand that my country join an international treaty within the next two years that cuts global warming pollution by 90 percent in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth.
* Take personal action to help solve the climate crises by reducing my own C02 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become “carbon neutral”.
* Fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the C02.
* Work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation.
* Fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal.
* Plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests.
* Buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crises and building a sustainable, just and prosperous world for the 21st century.
Are there any Mobile Phone Tariffs for Deaf Users?
Are there any Mobile Phone Tariffs for Deaf Users?
I have for 20 years now put up with buying into phone plans that supply 1,000 of free talk time to attract customers and have for years paid punitive rates for SMS messages.
At home I use FREE e-mail and various FREE Instant messenger systems to contact my mainly hearing friends and family.
My BT phone bill is always expensive and so complicated to understand I don’t even bother opening it to see how I need to pay £50 but only made £5 worth of “calls” – mostly visitors borrowing a cheap call because like 99% of people with a flashy mobile these days they have “run out of credit” .
A New era is finally upon us, Smart phones – The flashy TV commercials – web-sites promise at last MSN LIVE MESSENGER – Google’s GMAIL - SKYPE – YAHOO MESSENGER and of course many others available now 24 hours a day. At home but far more importantly for the deaf for almost the first time there is an easy way to communicate beyond specialist closed devices - The Smartphone promises universal communications – that is something the hearing world have taken advantage of almost since the invention of the telephone and never more so than in the age of the mobile.
Three’s X series looks compelling – but even as an IT professional I found it almost impossible to establish exactly what “fair usage” of their bandwidth really meant – but hey - they have loads worthless free “hearing minutes” I’m not knocking THREE I’m sure in the hearing world it’s a fantastic deal – I just resent committing myself to an outrageous 18 month contract paying for stuff I cannot use, The Orange site is no better but they thoughtfully provide to completely useless telephone numbers on their disability access page. GRRRR – A quick scan of all the major telephone networks paint a similar picture.
Well I'm not going to take it anymore!
And if I have made you question for a moment that the phone in your pocket represents excellent value for money to a deaf user then I invite you to get vocal about it too.
So Phone companies – Stuff your Free “Hearing Minutes” – Music Downloads – Ringtones – FM Radios – 18 month contracts – and fat-cat price plans.
STOP RIPPING US OFF.
It’s now technologically simple for any phone network to create a Deaf Price Plan that would allow us to communicate easily with the hearing world through a universal device with internationally recognised standards – yet it’s being excluded from a large community – is it not time for the phone companies to take our voice seriously – or will the regulators OFCOM do it for us? - don’t bank on it - their website advice to Deaf users is “look at the service providers price lists on-line” and confusingly recommends the w3c.org web-site – really useful if you are a budding website designer.
The RNID site sections on mobile phone is little more than a buyer’s guide that reads like it was written when mobiles were first introduced but I guess if you don’t know what an SMS message is - it’s the place to go.
Background from the RNID:
Deaf and hard of hearing adults in the UK
These are the latest estimated figures for the number of deaf and hard of hearing adults in the UK. There are:
• 8,945,000 deaf and hard of hearing people
• 2,474,000 deaf and hard of hearing people aged 16 to 60
• 6,471,000 deaf and hard of hearing people aged over 60
• 8,257,000 people with mild to moderate deafness
• 2,366,000 people with mild to moderate deafness aged 16 to 60
• 5,891,000 people with mild to moderate deafness aged over 60
• 688,000 people with severe to profound deafness
• 108,000 people with severe to profound deafness aged 16 to 60
• 580,000 people with severe to profound deafness aged over 60.
In the last few day I have had some – muted responses at very high levels and it does seem to have touched a nerve at some networks, I anticipate some early playing on tariffs - but I suspect we will continue to be ripped off – and be made to feel grateful for a few minor concessions. - I noticed my campaign appears on many forums including a front page “Featured Talkback” on the popular site http://www.zdnet.co.uk - and I’m very grateful for all the sympathetic responses and support.
Two MPs have written and one promises to investigate the matter for himself – the feedback has been very good, many phone forums have typically helpful advice from well meaning users about finding the best deals - but sadly many of them are missing the point and fail to see that all these tariffs are great value if you throw away the “Hearing Minutes” we pay for, which over 20 years I have owned a mobile is a dam lot of money.
Another important point is even if THREE’s X-series modify its £40 tariff its new pricing structure for the MSN Live Messenger effectively changes the way MSN LIVE MESSENGER operates - You DO start paying for it - there’s just a very high limit – but its not free! - So although THREE say UNLIMITED MSN LIVE MESSENGER* the small print on their “fair usage” page states:–
• Unlimited Windows Live Messenger
Fair Use Limit: 10,000 messages each month
This is more than 300 messages each and every day! If you exceed 10,000 messages we may suspend your access to Windows Live Messenger until the next month.
So you see 10,000 sounds a lot - 300 a day – is nowhere near enough to stay in touch with a growing list of friends and family using it – especially as Live Messenger increases its penetration onto the mobile platform and increasingly into B2B and business to customer relationships.
Use up your allowance it will be – a Cut off – simple as that.
(One for the Office of Fair Trading – and the ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY and I think OFCOM should look at that too.)
Well THREE we are buying that for a moment!
So has ANYONE out there found a better deal – a provider that understands the problems deaf people have using phones – and more importantly can do it so that the most disadvantaged in our society are not penalized any longer for being disabled.
Depression
Depression - everyone thinks they know what depression is -
I suspect its the one human condition that we will never really know how someone feels when they are depressed because the causes are so varied and solutions for reducing even preventing people from becoming depressed are so varied, - I posted here to remind myself I had reached a point that it produces real physical effects that go on to produce devastating illnesses.
I know I wont feel this bad forever but its hard to see beyond it some days.
Sylvester
Sylvester
Tribute to Sylvester - By the time Sylvester died on December 16, 1988 of AIDS-related complications, he had firmly cemented his reputation as one of the most original and talented musicians to come out of the disco arena. While Sylvester represented to mainstream America the Black and gay cultural origins of disco music, his body of work included not only crucial contributions to the disco songbook, but also ballads that proved he was a versatile stylist who brought a realness and depth to all his material.
